Senior IT Consultant

Burger Consulting Group (BCG) is seeking an experienced Senior IT Consultant to join our growing team.  BCG serves construction clients in the US and Canada with IT strategic planning, software selections, business process alignment and software implementation management. The firm has 25 years of industry experience with strong knowledge of best practices, technology trends and the vendor marketplace that is shaping and influencing the industry.

Location

This is a full-time opportunity that can require 20-30% travel at times. BCG is based in Chicago; however, the position can be filled remotely for the right individual.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with client IT and executive teams to align IT infrastructure initiatives with strategic business goals, ensuring a seamless integration of technology and strategy.
  • Lead technical and strategic sessions, including workshops and meetings, to assess and understand client’s current IT infrastructure, pinpointing challenges and identifying opportunities for enhancement.
  • Translate complex IT concepts into clear, actionable strategies for clients, emphasizing the role of IT as a strategic enabler for their business.
  • Conduct in-depth vendor selection processes, including preparing Requests for Proposals (RFPs), organizing software demonstrations, and facilitating technology workshops tailored to meet specific client needs.
  • Develop detailed IT strategy proposals and roadmaps that outline scalable and robust solutions, focusing on cloud solutions, data management, security, and systems integration.
  • Engage in proactive communication and follow-up with clients to ensure ongoing satisfaction, addressing any concerns and adapting strategies as necessary.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, offering insights and recommendations on IT governance, infrastructure scalability, and best practices for technology adoption and integration.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to exercise sound independent judgment.
  • Ability to take direction from PMO while providing input on project risks, outcomes, deliverables, and client dynamics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, listening, analytical, problem solving, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated maturity, integrity, and the ability to work in a flexible entrepreneurial environment, both individually and as a team player.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings with a strong presence and ability to lead discussions while extracting important information.
  • Ability to facilitate software demonstrations to ensure clients see and understand the solutions being evaluated, including pros and cons.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Information Management, Computer Science or Business-related field.
  • Experience with Construction Industry software and related technology is a plus.
  • Minimum of five years of professional services experience and strong consultative skills or equivalent work experience in an IT leadership role.
  • Understanding of both client/server architecture and cloud-based solutions including DR and integration.
  • Assessment, selection and/or implementation experience of one or more of the following supporting technologies such as IT Service Management, Cloud Services, Middleware, Master Data Management, Enterprise Content Management, Asset Management, Unified Endpoint Management, Data and Analytics, Data Governance, IT Governance and IT Security.
