Cyber Security in Construction: A Structured Conversation with Your Contractor Peers- March 23rd 10:30am CST
Only a few weeks ago, I was attending the AGC IT Forum Steering Committee meeting in San Diego which is where we plan for the IT Forum event (normally held in Chicago; this year being held in Denver). Security and Cyber-threats were among the most prominent topics. During the two-day event, we held an “open house” of sorts for San Diego AGC members to come and talk with us about all things tech in Construction. The number of people that voiced concern of cyber-security was surprising, definitely more than I had seen previously. Many of those attendees either had been attacked or knew people that had. Later that same week, a client of ours got hit with a ransom-ware attack. It was isolated quickly and neutralized. Because of the elevated threat and recent events, it occurred to me that BCG should facilitate a short symposium of sorts to bring together IT Directors and CIOs to share their experiences and, more importantly, their strategies and tactics around prevention.
To assist Christian in making this event more valuable for discussion, he has asked a few people to join the call as “Experts in the field” including our own Angus Frost, Joe Olacek, Cybersecurity expert from Plante Moran, and Jeff Sample, IT Director from Gallegos Corporation, who brings some experience with various prevention tools. We hope to have 20 or so of your peers on the call as well.
The goal of the call is to:
1. Give each of you a benchmark for how significant the threat is,
2. Give you some ammunition to take back to senior management and argue for better defenses, and
3. Provide some brainstorming around possible solutions.
The primary focus should be on Cyber Security threats including the impact of social engineering but other topics can be introduced as appropriate. I do want to stress that this is not a presentation as much as it is a facilitated conversation.
We only have room for the first 20 people to respond back to Tiffany Greene @ email@example.com . If we end up getting more responses back, we will set up another time to conduct this again. Once you respond back to me, I will forward you the meeting invite.
We look forward to having you on the call and facilitating a valuable conversation. If you are not the best person to attend this session, which promises to get technical, feel free to forward within your organization.
